Many media professionals are turning to freelance work to start off their career or they've always wanted to be their own boss. Did you know that 78% of businesses have fewer than 5 employees? I didn't So I began to read articles on freelancing and why/ how people do it.

A recurring sentence that kept popping up was "The need for all young people to be T-shaped is on the rise" and if you're anything like me I had never heard of "T-Shaped" before. T-shaped is the need for an all around skill set in the media, employers are now looking for people who have been educated in coding, videography, motion graphics, graphic design, illustration the list goes on as many design companies are expanding to try and offer all skills within their businesses.

I read an article on Creative Boom about "10 things you should read before going freelance" which opened my eyes to things I never would have thought of when going freelance. Many things such as not needing a business loan before starting was completely new to me as my impression of freelancing was that you had to have lots of employees and a big office space which really isn't the case at all.

Thoughts on freelancing = scary but not the end of the world.
