Transmedia Narrative is the new up and coming way to tell new stories and also the stories we all know and love in a new, exciting, media based way.

For one of my pieces of coursework for University, I was tasked to adapt Harper Lees To Kill a Mockingbird into a new adaptation using this new Transmedia experience. My adaptation for this book was set in 1963, roughly 30 years after the original story, one of the main characters Scout has become a Black civil rights activist being inspired by Martin Luther King Jr. My adaptation was set at the same time and place (Alabama) as the Montgomery to Selma Marches were taking place which worked in well with the original story line of Tom Robinson, a black man accused of a crime he didn't commit purely because he was black.

"But remember, it's a sin To Kill a Mockingbird" - Atticus Finch

I proposed to create an Illustrated story line of the main events of the book with the added feather of the Black Civil rights movement during this time. This would be illustrated and possibly animated on a horizontal scrolling panel hosted on the website "www.themockingbird.co.uk" .

My thought process for the users experience journey started with a rabbit hole plot presented within the University grounds in the form of a poster (poster would be presented on Facebook also for those not at the University), users would see the poster with the website link and go to said link. Users would then click on a link saying "Join the Fight" taking them to the YouTube teaser video. The end of the video will have a new website link called "www.jointhefight.co.uk". This new website will include the full illustrated story with a link to Spotify where you could download the Voice over as an E-Book.
